A common question I get asked often is, how do I clean my composite or UPVC front door?
Composite and UPVC front doors are easy to clean which keeps them looking their best. I would recommend cleaning your door with warm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge periodically.
The main benefits to cleaning your doors are they will look their best longer, preventing the build-up of dirt and grime staining and discolouring your door, saving you money in the long run making your door look and last longer.
What many customers and consumers do not realise is that when dirt builds up on your UPVC door it then will hold water, and this may significantly reduce the life span of your door. UPVC doors are affected more than composite doors with this issue since UPVC doors are unplasticized polyvinyl chloride. It is a strong low maintenance but lightweight plastic, if left dirty for long periods of time can cause cracks and weaknesses in the plastic.
Things to check when cleaning your composite or UPVC door
- Periodically when cleaning your door, you can check the door shuts and the lock operates smoothly, and the handles and door hardware is functioning correctly.
- The door threshold is clean and free from small stones and debris, this may need hoovering and wiping clean – dirt build up can cause water to hold and damage the plastic over time.
- Your smart doorbell or bell is functioning correctly and is in good working order.
